Modernisation of Car Park Meters Allows Further Payment Options

33 council-owned car parking meters across the borough have been modernised to allow card, cash and phone payments. The new solar-powered machines mean paying for your parking is much quicker and easier to do.

Litter Bins Returning in Park District

Litter bins are being installed shortly at six sites in the Park District as part of a trial period. This follows requests from the local community for their return.

The litter bins were removed a few years ago following repeated fly-tipping around them. The cost associated with removing and disposing of fly-tipped waste is high and it makes the area look unsightly. Dorset Waste Partnership and the council have done a lot of work to improve the cleanliness of the area.

We would ask people to keep an eye on the litter bins and report any fly-tippingwith any details of irresponsible residents to Dorset Waste Partnership.

The Shire Hall Trust Wants to Hear From You!

The redevelopment of Shire Hall into a world-class new Historic Courthouse Museum is progressing well. Restoration works are nearing completion, and the exciting programme of events and activities is already underway.

As part of their launch celebrations, they are working with ‘The Gramophones Theatre Company’ to collect people’s memories and stories of Shire Hall. These will then be put together into a live performance. This will be held at Shire Hall in February 2018.

So tell us…

 •             Did you ever work at Shire Hall? Be that in its former guises as a court, council, union etc
•             Do you know any friends or family with stories about Shire Hall?
•             Perhaps your family has history here – whichever side of the law!
•             Are you or do you know anyone descending from a Tolpuddle Martyr?
•             Perhaps you just have a great anecdote or story you wish to tell

Please contact Anne Brown, Shire Hall Learning Manager at anne.brown@shirehalldorset.org or phone 01305 252 405
