We Are Weymouth BID is delighted to announce that it has been awarded ‘commended’ status at the Dorset Tourism Awards for its 2021 Christmas Campaign – We Are Celebrating. It is rare for BIDs to be recognised in this way and the team at We Are Weymouth are incredibly proud to have put Weymouth on the map for Christmas.
The We Are Celebrating campaign consisted of 4 weekends of events and activities, designed to draw locals and visitors into the town centre, spending money, supporting the local economy and enjoying all that Weymouth has to offer. Beginning with the Elf World Record Attempt and followed by a Steampunk Christmas Weekend, interactive nativity trail with carols around the Christmas Tree and finishing with a Santa spectacular weekend. A month of reasons to head into Weymouth Town Centre, offering something for all the family.
Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth BID, Dawn Rondeau comments: “We understand that the Christmas period is vital to our local businesses and with this in mind we’ve worked hard to pull out all the stops to encourage people away from online shopping and out into the town. Our We Are Celebrating campaign began with the elf world record attempt and we even caught the attention of national broadcast with Weymouth receiving a 5 min segment on This Morning. For our hard work, and our town to be recognised in this way by the Dorset Tourism Awards is a real honour.
