Blooming Marvellous! Weymouth wins gold in Britain in Bloom Awards

We Are Weymouth (BID) is proud to announce that Weymouth has been awarded xxx in the National Britain in Bloom competition.  This is the first time that Weymouth has been entered into the competition and the team from We Are Weymouth attended the awards ceremony in Weston-super-Mare on xxx, and were thrilled to collect the prize.

The national competition recognises communities of all shapes and sizes with a focus on three main criteria: horticultural excellence, environmental responsibility and community participation.

Preparation by We Are Weymouth, Weymouth Town Council, Dorset Council and local volunteers included extensive planting, painting, cleaning and hanging 311 baskets, throughout the town.

Dawn Rondeau, We Are Weymouth’s Chief Operations Officer comments: “We are absolutely thrilled that Weymouth has been recognised in this way by the National Britain in Bloom competition.  Xxx award is an amazing honour for the town.

Weymouth has so much to offer in terms of beautiful and scenic locations, and together with Weymouth Town Coucil, Dorset Council and local volunteers we worked incredibly hard to add the finishing touches to the award-winning route through the town.

To gain recognition such as this, after such a difficult 18 months, is fantastic and we’re excited to share this outstanding news with the town.”

Since its beginnings in the 1960s, Britain in Bloom has showcased the very best of U.K. communities in bloom and now encourages community projects and partnerships across the country. With participation this year spearheaded by We Are Weymouth, organisers hope to see Weymouth put on the map and awarded highly in the competition.
