WEYMOUTH UNVEILS ‘DINO-MITE’ FOSSIL TRAIL – A JURASSIC ADVENTURE FOR ALL!

– A brand new, permanent fossil trail to launch in Weymouth this half term, bringing prehistoric wonders to life –

Weymouth is set to make history—literally! We Are Weymouth, the town’s Business Improvement District (BID), is thrilled to introduce phase one of the Weymouth Fossil Trail, an exciting and educational permanent installation showcasing the region’s incredible Jurassic heritage. Launching just in time for February half-term, the trail will be officially unveiled on Saturday 15th February, inviting visitors and locals alike to embark on a fossil-hunting adventure through the heart of the town.  Follow the trail, scan the QR codes and learn awesome facts about our Jurassic past.

Featuring nine unique installations, the trail celebrates fossils of all shapes and sizes, offering a fascinating glimpse into the creatures that roamed Dorset millions of years ago. Free to explore, it’s a fantastic way for families, history enthusiasts, and day-trippers to uncover fun dinosaur facts while enjoying Weymouth’s vibrant town centre. Visitors are encouraged to share their discoveries using #WeymouthFossilTrail.

Dawn Rondeau-Irvine, Chief Operations Officer at We Are Weymouth, comments:  “We are beyond excited to bring this incredible installation to Weymouth. After months of planning and securing funding, we’re delighted to offer a permanent tribute to our Jurassic past. Weymouth’s connection to the Jurassic Coast is something truly special, and this trail gives visitors a chance to engage with that history in a fun and interactive way. We can’t wait to see families, school groups, and dinosaur lovers of all ages exploring the town and enjoying the experience!”

“And with the Dino Run on the beach and amazing animatronic dinosaurs roaming the town on launch day, Saturday 15th February is set to be absolutely ROAR-some!”
